On Saturday, June 19, the Kenmore Farmer’s Market will host its first-ever food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Western New York. In addition, local singer/songwriter Scott Celani will make his first Market appearance on the Market entertainment stage at 10:00 a.m. Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable items to donate to the Food Bank.

“The Market is a great place for the community to gather while supporting the good work of the Food Bank, we hope to collect enough to make a difference for them,” said market manager Katie Burd.

Visitors to the market can also expect delicious finds among the vendors including fresh baked goods from Sweet Beginnings Bakery, Lewiston Jams and Jellies, gourmet pasta, early local produce as well as annuals and perennials.

The Market, which officially opened on June 12th, runs every Saturday from 8 am-12:30 pm until October 30th on the front lawn of the Ken-Ton Municipal building (2919 Delaware Avenue).

Founded 30 years ago, the Food Bank of WNY distributes more than 1 million pounds of food each month to 100,000 residents (39 percent of which are children and 11 percent are senior citizens) through its network of 400 member agencies in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara Counties.

On Memorial Day, the Market held a special preview during the annual Ken-Ton Memorial Day Parade. Hundreds of people stopped by the Village Green to get a sneak peek at what the Market will offer throughout the summer, and enjoyed the festivities. The official opening day is Saturday, June 12. We hope to see you there!
